THA partners with Forest Nation

I live in a house with the most unbelievable wavy floors. Put a marble at the front door and it will travel — like a ball in a pinball machine  — from the entrance, through the living room, into the office, until it hits the mud room and disappears into a corner.

I’ve been concerned about the slant on my floors for years. But the contractor I hired to remove old wallpaper and open the kitchen kept telling me that the floors were fantastic. That my old house, with its wavy floors and deep wooden windowsills, was a keeper, and would last longer than nearly all the houses built today. Why? Because many of the newer homes (with their perfectly straight floors that I covet) wouldn’t last as long as this one. My house, like all houses built at the turn of the century, was made with old growth wood. Sadly, that option isn’t available today.

After 30 years as a direct mail fundraiser (and nearly 15 in digital), I am guilty of using paper. A lot of paper. I also travel, use a computer and cell phone, heat a home office, have two televisions (at least one to watch The Crown), and take countless rides on Amtrak to see clients, staff, and colleagues.

Beginning in 2023, the Harrington Agency is delighted to partner with Forest Nation by planting at least 3,000 trees every quarter.

By working with Forest Nation, we are creating a more sustainable environment by planting trees in Tanzania that absorb C02 and offset carbon emissions. We are also creating sustainable livelihoods for farming communities and empowering local youth.

I’m proud that the Harrington Agency’s 2023 Innovation Roadmap includes reducing our company’s carbon footprint. We’re focusing our efforts on restoring forests, managing them better, and continuing to replace what we use.

Along with planting trees, all of us at THA are pledging to adopt sustainable practices in our individual work and personal lives, like reducing waste, recycling, composting, conserving water, and limiting electricity use and trips.

The Harrington Agency is dedicated to bettering our world in substantial ways by partnering with organizations to raise money and build communities committed to social justice, humanitarian assistance, and conservation.
