Being a digital-first organization is no longer a choice into today’s world – it should be standard operating procedure. We’re already assuming you have a solid CRM, ESP, donation platform. You’re consistently testing your landing pages, emails, and website assets. You’ve established KPIs for your website, conversion rates, email, and advertising programs. In other words, you have the basics covered. Unfortunately, that’s not digital-first. It’s a solid foundation, but are you really digital-first?

You’ve got a long way to go baby! The change has neither been as rapid or as radical as many experts predicted; however, the slow and steady march of digital overtaking other marketing and fundraising channels is undeniable. But, based on your answers, your organization is nowhere near equipped for the coming tide. The best thing you can do is review these 10 questions and try to get your answers to yes for at least five of them.

4-7:

You have taken very positive strides towards the goal of being a digital-first organization. However, you still lag behind the front runners, who think of digital as an indisputable element to all of their efforts. There is a difference. The best advice I can offer you is to see where you are lacking, increase your in-house skills, and make sure to eliminate any overlap.

8-10:

Your organization is right where it should be. And if you’ve been doing it long enough, you’re reaping the benefits of being digital-first—more revenue, more supporters, higher retention, increased brand awareness.
